Edith Babiy Kingsley died peacefully in the care of Hope Hospice on October 4th, 2017. She was born on September 27, 1925 in Ithaca, New York. The daughter of Dr & Mrs Paul Peter Babiy. The family returned to Austria where she completed her education. She returned to Ithaca as a young adult where she met and married Ralph R. Kingsley. They remained married for 49 years until his death.
She worked at Cornell University until moving to Fort Myers. It is then she began her career in Real Estate remaining active until seventy-five years of age. Her interests included attending the symphonies, volunteering at Lee Memorial for 40 years, Zonta International, The Fort Myers Public Library and she was a charter member of the Mina Edison Club. Traveling provided a break from the norm and a reason to visit so many friends and relatives around the world.
She is survived by son Charles “Buddy” Kingsley (Sherry), daughter Kathryn “Cathi” Collins (Bob), son Rusty Woolsey (Carole), a sister Elizabeth “Tille” Babiy Bennett (Mel Bennett deceased), and a sister in law Ruth Miller Babiy (Peter E Babiy deceased). She had fabulous grandchildren, great grandchildren, and extended family including a special friend Ed Barton, and his family.
Memorial Services will be held Monday October 9th at 1pm at St. Hilary’s Episcopal Church. Corner of McGregor and Colonial in Fort Myers. Arrangements by Harvey-Englehardt Funeral Home Fort Myers Florida. Donations may be made to Hope Hospice in lieu of flowers.
