Eleanor K Brown

February 24, 1922 ~ July 24, 2017 (age 95) 95 Years Old

Eleanor K. “Lee” Brown of Fort Myers passed away peacefully on July 24, 2017. Born February 24, 1922 in Schenectady, New York to Grace and Alexander Klein, Lee graduated from Mount Pleasant High School. While originally from Schenectady, Lee and Burdette her husband of 49 years, moved to the Fort Myers area in 1976, Lee was an “energizer bunny” and loved to tell stories and eat spumoni ice cream. She loved and was loved by her friends. When she did get tired, she would announce “today is over for me”. Lee was active in the Indian Creek Park Sweet Adelines. After moving to Seven Lakes, Lee joined the Red Hat Ladies, played dominos and the organ, enjoyed the doll house and miniatures club, and discovered her true passion-feeding the ducks. During her years in Schenectady, Lee was an executive secretary at GE, a Mom, cub scout den mother, member of Emmanuel Baptist Church, and member of Women’s Auxiliary of Carmen Fire Department and White Eagle Ambulance Squad. Lee was pre-deceased by her husband, Burdette in 1991 as well as her brother George Klein of Albany, N.Y. Lee has two sons, Tim Brown of Humble, TX. and Tom Brown of Spring, TX., plus four grandchildren and nine great- grandchildren and several nephews and nieces. Her family calls her Mom, Grandma Lee, or Momma Lee. Following her cremation, Lee’s ashes will be scattered near Bahia Honda Key, in the Florida Keys where her husband’s ashes were scattered.

The family would like to thank the nurses at Gulf Coast Health Center of Fort Myers and Hope Hospice of Cape Coral for their gentle and thoughtful care during Lee’s final days. A memorial service is planned for 2 PM, Saturday, July 29, at Harvey-Engelhardt Funeral Home, 1600 Colonial Blvd, Fort Myers. For those wishing to make a donation in lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Church of the Resurrection, Fort Myers or Emmanuel-Friedens Church, Schenectady, or the charity of their choice.
