Ingvar “Swede” Eliasson, 91, peaceably passed away on May 21, 2017 at home in Ft. Myers Beach, FL. He was born in Varberg, Sweden May 16, 1926.  Ingvar grew up in Bedford, NY and graduated from Bedford High School in 1943. He then served in the US Army’s 159th Engineer Combat Battalion and followed General Patton across Germany during WWII. After the war, he received his BSEE from University of Rochester under the GI Bill. Early in his career he worked for Westinghouse and IBM. While they were both living NYC, he met Lois Townley. They were married in 1951 and moved to Long Island shortly thereafter where they had three children. In the early 1960’s Ingvar designed a custom home for a lot they purchased in Westchester County, NY. With the help of his parents Alfred and Beda, Lois and three small children, they built the house which became their home. Swede started his own manufacturer’s rep company in 1963. He introduced factory automation products to manufacturers in Metro NY area. During that time, their fourth child was born. Swede was involved with many business associations as well as serving his community as President of Harrison’s Lake Street School Board. He loved to play golf and work outdoors. He always had time to take his kids fishing. Swede retired to Ft. Myers Beach Florida in the early 1990’s and lived a full life doing the things he enjoyed most, fishing, playing golf and traveling the world with Lois. Ingvar is survived by his wife, Lois, after 65 years of marriage and his brother Daniel Eliasson of Santa Barbara, CA. Ingvar left a great legacy with his four children and their families: Karen (Victor) Santos of Stanton, VA, with Brandon and Carter; David (Tammy) Eliasson of Ft. Myers, FL, with Eric, Jeremy, Leif and Lesley; Gary (Lisa) Eliasson of Yorktown Heights, NY, with Mallory and Lucas; Susan (Tom) Nangle of West Harrison, NY, with JT, and Ryan. In addition, there are eight great-grandchildren and his nieces and nephews and other relatives. Ingvar was preceded in death by his brother, COL Arne Eliasson. A memorial service will be held November 3, 2017 as his ashes will be scattered in a place that he loved. In lieu of flowers, donations, as a form of thanks for the care Swede received, would be welcomed at Hope Healthcare Hospice 9470 Health Park Circle, Ft.
