Jean Davis, 80, of Ft. Myers, FL passed away on November 7, 2018 surrounded by loving family. From her birth in Philadelphia, PA on November 20, 1937 to her death on Wednesday she nourished people around her with love, faith, food, and laughter. Jean was a devoted wife and mother. She was a devout Catholic who opened her heart and home to everyone. No matter who or what you were, Jean always had a warm infectious smile and a plate of food for you. Outside of family and church Jean was a member of the Pink Ladies bowling team, she loved to play bingo and cards with her friends, or watch the Phillies play baseball.
Jean loved her church as much as she did her family. Whether it was serving on the Council of Catholic Women, teaching Sunday school class, or working in the church’s daycare, Jean shared her love of God and children.
Left to honor Jean and remember her love are Jean’s three children, John Davis and wife Debbie, Anthony Davis and wife Kristin, Rita Davis; four grandchildren Katherine Wilhelm, Riley Davis, Cooper Effing, Jackson Davis; and siblings Anthony, Louis and Rita; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Jean will be laid to rest at Sarasota National Cemetery beside her beloved husband, Marlin Davis, who preceded her death in 2011. Jean will be remembered as a bright, shining light in all the lives she touched and in the churches she served. There was not a more gentle soul and the world is a little sadder without her smile.
