Kathyrn Butcher, age 76, passed away peacefully on November 12, 2017 in Fort Myers, Florida.
Kathy was born on April 9, 1941 at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, Michigan to Aino Sofia (nee Oforsagd) and James Walker Anderson, Jr. She had two sisters, Carol and Beverly, who she remained close with throughout life. The family moved to Ann Arbor in 1951. Kathy attended Angell Elementary, Tappan Junior High and Pioneer High School where she served as Secretary of the Student Council. The family spent their summers learning to swim and play golf at Barton Hills Country Club. Kathy attended the University of Michigan and served as Vice President of the Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority. She married Richard Hutchison, and they had three children together. Kathy worked at University Microfilms for 14 years in Customer Service as well as Sales. She was a talented artist and did beautiful portraits of her grandchildren. In 1985 Kathy married Richard Butcher, the love of her life and gained three step-children. She loved being surrounded by family and friends, of which she had many. She especially loved visits from her grandchildren. Kathy was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband Dick Hutchison and her step daughter Susan Butcher. She is survived by her loving husband, Dick Butcher, her sisters Carol (Denny) Sakstrup and Beverly Zinnbauer, children David Hutchison, Laura Kathryn, Mark (Annmarie) Hutchison, Patty Butcher and Bob Butcher, brother-in-law Don Butcher, grandchildren Ryan Hutchison, Zachary Hutchison, Lauren Odum, Kai Hutchison, Kyle (Ashley) Hutchison, Kullen Hutchison, Alyssa Templer and Nicole Herman, great grandsons Leviticus Odum, Zacchaeus Odum, Mathius Odum and Ethan Hutchison, and several nieces and nephews. Kathy was an active member of Ann Arbor Golf and Outing and the Hideaway Country Club in Fort Myers. She trained and volunteered with Hope Hospice in Michigan and Fort Myers where she and Dick spent their winters for more than 30 years. She was a lovely lady whose brilliant smile, and kind and happy nature will be missed.
Following Kathy’s wishes, there will be a private family service in the spring in Ann Arbor.
