Barry "Smokey" Kris Bowerman Sr. passed away suddenly and peacefully at his home early Sunday morning the 3rd of April at the age of 64. He was born August 29th, 1957 to Jack and Eleanor (Houghton) Bowerman in Fort Bragg, North Caroline.
Barry grew up in Miami FL, where he met his wife Sara in 1978. They were married in 1979.
Barry began his Truck Driving career working for his father-in-law, Huyer Trucking. Barry and Sara relocated from Miami to Ft Myers FL in 1985. They moved to Lehigh Acres FL in 1986 where they resided until Barry went home to be with the Lord.
Barry continued his Truck Driving career of 44years, when he eventually became an Owner/ Operator of Bowerman Enterprises, INC. He and his wife built a Trucking Company together where Barry guided Sara into her trucking career also. Barry was greatly admired and respected in the Trucking Community which he has been apart of for 37 years in Lee County.
Barry was thoroughly devoted being involved with his family and their times together. Barry’s hobbies included cooking amazing BBQ meals on his 5 different types of grills for friends and family. He loved boating, fishing, camping, spending time at the beach with his wife and family, as well as spending time with his 3 beloved dogs.
Barry was proceeded in death by his mother Eleanor May Houghton Bowerman, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Barry is survived by his loving wife of 43 years Sara Anne (Huyer) Bowerman, as he loved and adored his wife where they enjoyed every minute being together.
Along with their beloved 5 children… Jessica May Bowerman (Jeff) Padilla, Rebecca Anne Bowerman (Jason Peak), Virginia Lee Bowerman (Clint Jenkins), Victoria Lynn Bowerman (Steven Tates) and his son, Barry Kris (Sabrina) Bowerman Jr.
Barry was also a proud Grandfather of 10 Grandchildren, that he loved and adored too.
He was and is unique… A TRUE MAN, HUSBAND, FATHER, SON AND FRIEND!
A visitation will be held Saturday April 23 at 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM with the funeral service to immediately at 3:00pm at Harvey-Engelhardt Funeral & Cremation Services, 1600 Colonial Blvd, Fort Myers, FL 33907
