Betty L Nelson

Betty Lou Nelson passed peacefully into eternal rest on July 7, 2021 at her home in North Fort Myers, Florida at the age of 90. Born on August 4, 1930 in Bristol, VA, Betty grew up in Sullivan County, TN with 13 brothers and sisters.  She married Joe Harvey Nelson, Sr. in 1947 and they enjoyed their life together in Tennessee until relocating to Ft. Myers, Florida in 1974. Betty was a loving and devoted wife to Joe until he passed on November 8, 1991. She was also preceded in death by her grandson. Danny Joe Nelson on January 3, 2001, parents, John W Lunsford in 1969 and Perna Mae Lunsford in 1938, and all 13 of her siblings.

Her wish was to live the rest of her life in her own home and this was fulfilled on July 7, 2021 when she passed away. Those who loved her remember her as such a kind and gentle person. Betty will be dearly missed by her son, Joe H. Nelson, Jr. (Jean) of Jonesborough TN; grandchildren,  David J. Nelson (Ellen) of Johnson City, TN, Drew J. Nelson of Jonesborough TN; great grandchildren, Hayden Nelson Kelich of Marysville, WA, Trey Greer of San Diego, CA, and Bailey Nelson of Johnson City, TN; as well as great-great grandchildren, Athena, Sebastian, Scarlett, Marysville, WA

Visitation will take place on Monday, July 12 at 10:00AM followed by a prayer service at 10:30AM in the Harvey Engelhardt Funeral Home Chapel 1600 Colonial Blvd. in Fort Myers. Betty will be laid to rest with her husband at the Fort Myers Memorial Gardens cemetery.
