Carolyn D Ford

Carolyn Ford of Cape Coral, FL, formerly of Columbus, OH, passed away on April 4, 2021. While resideing in Ohio, Carolyn worked for 31 years as an educator in the Columbus Public Schools, the Franklin County Office of Education and the Groveport Madison Local School District. In 1961 Carolyn married Alan C. Ford of Plymouth, Ohio. They lived in Columbus and Reynoldsburg, Ohio, retiring to Cape Coral in 1987. Carolyn started a home business making teddy bears and bear clothing and participated in craft shows across the state. In 1993 she became interested in tracing her family history. This led to membership in the Lee County Genealogical Society and a position as the Society's Education Chairman. Carolyn also served for a number of years as a volunteer in the Genealogy Department of the Fort Myers-Lee County Public Library, assisting patrons with tracing their family history and teaching genealogy classes. Carolyn particularly enjoyed doing genealogy research in the places where her ancestors had lived: Ohio, Indiana, West Virginia, Pennsylvania, Maryland and Delaware. She was preceded in death by her husband Alan and her parents. There will be no visitation or funeral services in accordance with her wishes. Burial will take place in the Greenlawn Cemetery in Plymouth, Ohio. Arrangements are entrusted to Harvey Engelhardt Funeral Service. Friends, if they wish, may make donations in Carolyn's name to the Cape Coral First United Methodist Church, Friends of the Fort Myers Library or the Fort Myers - Lee County Public Library Genealogy Department.
