Tribute

Constance Louise Ellis “Connie”, passed away peacefully at the age of 84 at home in Fort Myers Beach, FL on January 12, 2021, surrounded by her family and her partner of 21 years, Ralph Defalco.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, Robert Edward Ellis; parents Earl Jonathan Vermillion and Beulah Fletcher Boley Vermillion; sisters Janice, Ruby; and brothers Thomas, Gene, and Carl.
Connie was born and raised in Washington, DC and grew up in a small rowhouse with her close-knit family of 6 brothers and sisters. Although they had little money and material items, the house burst at the seams with love. Connie had a zest for life, a vibrant smile, and compassion for others. She loved to sing and dance.
After high school, Connie worked for Universal Studios before meeting her husband, Robert. They moved to Clinton, Md where they raised their 3 children, Kim, Tim and Kelly. She was an active member at the Clinton Baptist Church and volunteered at the local polls and Clinton Boys and Girls Club. Connie could always be found on the softball, baseball, soccer, and football fields cheering on her children. Her love for her family was limitless. She was most proud of her title of “Grand-mama” for her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Upon the passing of her husband, Connie returned to Fort Myers Beach, FL where the couple had previously resided. She loved to take her family and sisters on the “Big M” Casino Boat. She once won a $10,000 slot jackpot and her winning photo is displayed on the boat.
Connie is survived by her partner, Ralph Defalco, her children Kimberly King (Tony), Timothy Ellis (Brenda), and Kelly Hayden (Brian); her grandchildren Jill, Bradley, Steven, John, Sean, Tommy, Jordan, Abigail and Jacob; great grandchildren Parker, Stella, Easton, Violet, and Cameron and her sister Delores Quinn (Mike) of Lexington, KY.
Connie will be laid to rest in her hometown of Clinton, Md at Resurrection Cemetery with A Celebration of Life service sometime in the September timeframe.
