Don R Burbacher

The family of Don Ream Burbacher of Ft. Myers, Florida, formerly of Columbus, OH announces his passing on Feb. 28, 2018 after a long, courageous battle with cancer.  He was born on August 5, 1947, in Zanesville, OH to Don Howard and Lois Mae Burbacher, who preceded him in death. Don leaves his wife of 45 years, Donna Sova Burbacher, to cherish his memory, along with sons Don Joseph Burbacher (Wife Kristine) of Ostrander, OH, Mathew Burbacher of Ft. Myers, Florida, and Brady Burbacher (Wife Joanna) of Glen Burnie, Maryland. He was the loving grandfather to 9 grandchildren. Don's siblings are Brad Burbacher, of Kingston, Barb Beaver, of Albany, Scot Burbacher (Wife Cindi), of Circleville, Nancy Ell, of Circleville, Sandy Bowers (Husband Rev. Dwight), of Bryan, and Rick Burbacher (Wife Wendy), of Groveport.

Don was an Army veteran serving in Korea in the DMZ.  When he returned from Korea, Don continued his career in his family's grocery business, Forest Park IGA, in Columbus, Ohio. He eventually moved his family to Ft. Myers, FL where he was a Corporate Trainer for The Whitney Education Group. He was beloved by co-workers, to whom he served as a mentor for many years. Don was a life-long, avid Ohio State Buckeyes fan, a passion he shared with his sons and family.

A visitation will be held in Florida. Visiting hours in Ohio will take place on March 10, 2018, from 11 am-1 pm at Fox Funeral Home, Market Street, Boardman. A military graveside memorial service will be held at Lake Park Cemetery, Midlothian Blvd., Youngstown, Ohio, following the 1 pm service led by Rev. Dwight Bowers at the funeral home.
