Peacefully, and surrounded by her family, Emma Rao (Fusco) of Fort Myers, Florida passed away on April 20, 2021 at the age of 62.
She was born on August 29, 1958 in Torrecuso, Italy and came to the United States at the age of 13, where she resided in Summit, NJ.
She met her sweetheart and love of her life, Martino Rao, in 1979 and they were married in 1984.
While living in NJ, she worked for Chubb and Son Insurance Co. for 10 years. She later began working alongside her husband helping him manage his construction company. In 1991, she and her husband moved to Florida, where she resided for the past 30 years. Along with her husband she was the owner of Pasta and Pizza Pizzeria in Fort Myers, and La Vigna restaurant on Sanibel Island. She currently was owner of Touch of Italy Deli in Fort Myers and was a Realtor with Malt Realty.
She had a love for all animals, and especially adored her cats Bruno and Micio, who left her way too soon. She was a volunteer with the Gulf Coast Humane Society and the Community Cooperative (Soup Kitchen). Emma was an avid Yankee fan, and enjoyed watching and talking about her team. She had a zest for life and her favorite thing was spending time with her family and friends. Her smile and laughter will be missed by all who knew her.
Emma was predeceased by her father Antonio Fusco, her mother Bruna Fusco and her brother Michael Fusco.
She is survived by her loving husband of 36 years, Martino Rao. She is survived by her brothers, Angelo Fusco and his wife Esterina Fusco, Enzo Fusco and his partner Kathy Tolson, Alberto Fusco; and her sister in law Cheryl Fusco. She is also survived by her brother in laws Carlo Rao, Pasquale Rao and his wife Rosa, Vincenzo Rao and his wife Loredana, Francesco Rao and his wife Antoinetta; Her sister in laws Domenica Pontoriero, Guiseppina Rao and Isabella Rao. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
Visitation will be held at Harvey-Engelhardt Funeral Home, 1600 Colonial Boulevard, Fort Myers, Florida 33907 on Thursday April 22, 2021 from 5-8pm.
A second visitation will follow in New Jersey at Paul Ippolito Memorial, 7 Summit Ave, Summit NJ 07901 on Sunday April 25, 2021 from 2-5pm.
Funeral Services will be held on Monday at 10:45am at St.Teresa of Avila Church, 306 Morris Ave, Summit NJ 07901. Interment will immediately follow St Teresa Cemetery, 136 Passaic Ave, Summit NJ 07901.
