Edward Robert Hickey “The Big Kahuna”, 71, of Ft. Myers passed away peacefully Tuesday February 13, 2018 at his home. He was born November 15, 1946 in St. Louis, MO to Edward and Earline Hickey. Ed graduated from Parkway High School in Chesterfield, MO in 1965 and then attended South East Missouri State College. He married Mary Ankelman December 31, 1966 in St. Ann, MO. Ed owned and operated E & M Enterprises in Lake St. Louis, MO for many years. He moved to Sanibel in 1989 where he worked for Rochester Resorts. He then pursued his college aspirations as "Capt. Ed", President of the Art Department for Pincher's Crab Shacks. Ed will be remembered as a loving husband, caring father, the anchor of the family, who loved the ocean and spending time with his three granddaughters.
Ed leaves behind his wife of 51 years, Mary, three children: Tim and wife Nicole, Jennifer Matlock, and Michaela Hickey, three granddaughters; Madison Matlock, Amanda Hickey, and Savannah Nippa, his mother Earline Hickey, one brother Mike Hickey and sister Penny Miller.

A Celebration of Life will be held May 5, 2018 at 11:00 A.M. at the Wyndham, 6890 Estero Blvd, Fort Myers Beach, Fl. Following the beach service there will be a gathering of friends and family to celebrate the memories of beloved Captain Ed.
