Floyd Roland Dorman, 79, of Ft. Myers, Florida was called home by the Lord on September 1, 2021. He died peacefully in his sleep at home.

Roland was born August 12, 1942 in Belle Glade, Florida. He was the third child of James Dawson Dorman, Sr. and Verlie Elaine Dorman. Roland was preceded in death by his parents, older brother James Dawson Dorman, Jr. (J.D.) and his sister Juanita Gerow.

He was a lifelong bachelor who had a high school education. Roland was recognized by the Air Force as an honorary member of the 33rd tactical fighter wing at Elgin Air Force base. He had done landscaping jobs for them and was very proud of the work he had done for the Air Force. As a cement contractor Roland was well known in the community and had many friends and acquaintances in southwest Florida.

Roland was a frequent visitor at the Cracker Barrel Restaurant in east Ft. Myers for many years and was well known and loved by the staff and numerous customers. Roland always had the ability to say something humorous and could tell many stories about the area and the people of southwest Florida.
Roland is survived by his sisters, Sharon Junella Piltz of Cape Coral and Debra Tancredi of Ft. Myers. He also has many nieces and nephews and their children. Also left behind was his beloved cat, Miss Cassie.

Service will be at Harvey-Engelhardt Funeral Home, 1600 Colonial Blvd. in Ft. Myers on Saturday, September 11, 2021. Visitation from 11:00AM to 12:00PM with prayer service beginning at 12:00PM in the chapel, followed by interment at Ft. Myers City Cemetery on Michigan Avenue with a grave side ceremony.

Due to Covid, there will be no social after the grave side service.

Please be aware that masks are required inside the funeral home chapel. Please bring a mask with you to wear while attending the visitation and service.
