Tribute

Georgia Terese Perreira, 79, of Fort Myers and Lehigh Acres, Florida, died July 23, 2020 at Hope Hospice
House in Lehigh Acres, Fl.

Georgia was the loving wife of the late Joseph A. Perreira, devoted mother to Katherine A. Perreira-Pope and proud to be mother-in-law to Charles A. Pope of Lehigh Acres, Fl. She was the sister of the late Gordon E. Burns of MA, who passed on April 30, 2020. She was the aunt to Kristin Burns of Framingham, MA and Matthew Burns of MN. She was Ma and Grandma Georgia to Sirra Simba, Habib Touray and AWA Touray, who she loved dearly. Plus she had family and many longtime friends from RI, MA and throughout the world.

Georgia graduated from Johnson and Wales University in 1964 with a degree in Accounting. In 1970, she went to RI School of Practical Nursing and became an LPN. In 1993 she received a degree in Mechanical Engineering from Bristol Community College and then went on to become a Registered Nurse in 2000 from the Community College of RI.

Georgia was a dedicated and compassionate nurse and loved all people from her heart. She was a mentor to all who came in contact with her and wanted to learn. She wanted every person to be the best they could be.

Georgia worked for various nursing homes across RI, MA and FL. She served our military by working for the VA Hospital for many years. She ended her nursing career as a Hope Hospice Nurse and it was her greatest honor to do so. Still having so much to give, she became a foster mom to many children until 2020.

Georgia loved to travel, sew and was extremely crafty. She liked to remodel homes and construct plans for new homes. She was a lover of rescue pets, one in particular, her sweet dog Ava.

Georgia was the most unselfish, caring and loving person you will have ever met with a heart of gold. She was a caretaker to all, family, friend or stranger, and we are all better off to have known her.

We want to say a special thanks to Hope Hospice. They are amazing people who only care about your loved one and their family. With much love we say Thank You!
