Ben (Harry) Place, passed away peacefully on October 17th, 2019 in Ft. Myers Florida. He is preceded in death by his parents, younger brother, daughter and granddaughter. Ben leaves behind his loving wife of 36 years, Sharon, 2 sons/daughter in laws and 4 grandchildren and 2 brothers.

Ben was born in Fulton, NY in 1956 and has been a Ft. Myers resident since 1976. Ben was a Navy Veteran where he served in the Submarine Service on the USS Skipjack. He was a Property and Casualty Insurance Agent in Lee County for over 40 years and an agent with Olin Hill & Associates for most of those years. Ben loved his community and church and served on the Lee County Humane Society Board of Directors. He and his wife Sharon joined Zion Lutheran Church in 2011 where he was actively involved on the Executive Board and served as Treasurer of the Early Childhood Center.

Ben lived life with enthusiasm, love and laughter. He was an amazing husband, father, grandfather, father in law, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend and will be greatly missed by his loving family and friends. Ben wanted to be remembered as a loving and devoted husband, loving parent and grandparent; a caring, helpful, Christian person with a good sense of humor.

A Memorial Service will be held at Zion Lutheran Church, 7401 Winkler Road, Ft. Myers, on Saturday, Nov. 9th @ 11am. A celebration of Ben’s life will immediately follow the service at The Helm Club in The Landings Yacht Golf & Tennis Club on McGregor Blvd.
