                          Henry J. Mangen
                     3/21/1930 - 10/31/2023

Henry "Hank" Mangen, age 93, formerly of White Lake, Michigan and a resident of Fort Myers, Florida for the past five years, passed away on October 31, 2023.  Hank was born March 21, 1930 in Chicago, IL to Henry and Florence Mangen.  He was the fourth of six children and the oldest son.  Hank's father died unexpectedly when Hank was 17.  Hank graduated from Mount Carmel High School in Chicago and went to work as a pressman in the printing trade to help his mother financially.  He served as a corporal in the United States Army from 1953 to 1955 and returned to the printing business for the next thirty years; taking on different jobs in Chicago, Arizona, and Texas before settling in Michigan.  He was one of the original founders of Valassis printing company; retiring from there in his mid-fifties. He spent the next two decades enjoying life with his wife Polly at their home on the lake in Twin Lakes Village in White Lake, golfing, traveling, attending University of Michigan football games, and spending time with his daughters and their families. His move to Florida in 2018 was the beginning of a new chapter in his life. He took up bocce ball, water aerobics, and worked out regularly at the gym. He made several new friends and was active in many social activities. He was an outgoing and friendly person with a great sense of humor and a positive outlook on life, who usually did not hold back when offering his opinion. He was a person who was committed to taking care of his family; dedicated to taking care of Polly until her death in 2010, and to his two "girls", Karen and Carol up until the very end of his life.

Hank was preceded in death by his wife of fifty-eight years, Polly (nee Hult), and three sisters; Florence, Claire, and Mary Alice. He is survived by his two daughters; Karen Donahey (Scott Miller), and Carol (Don) Fitzgerald, three grandchildren; Meghan Fitzgerald, Lexie (Nick) Rompa, and Michael Miller, his sister Rita (Joseph) Murphy, and brother Richard (Lydia) Mangen, numerous nieces and nephews, and Lucy Trojan, his significant other/companion of five years.

No services will be held at this time, however, a memorial service will be held in Michigan in the spring of 2024. Donations may be sent in Hank's name to the Wounded Warriors Project; a charity he has supported for many years.
