Jackie Hornsby

Our condolences to Charlotte and the Hornsby Family. Just saw this today and our family is so sad. Jackie and Charlotte were our neighbors on Wilshire drive and our nemesis during Alabama vs Florida games. We pranked and harassed each other after wins, played with their Chimp and monkeys, fished in their yard, kayaked in their kayaks, and shared laughs, sadness, and wisdom. He and Charlotte were always so knowledgeable on any topic! Jackie was larger than life, and someone who made a huge impact on me because of some “troubles” I was having, after our son was born. From inside his house, he saw me getting sick near his yard, while i was walking the dog with my baby, and came outside to check on me and confort me. That’s the type of man he was. He had a kind, loving heart, and you quickly learned he loved his family fiercely. He had a sometimes gruff exterior, with a soft sweet heart of gold. We stayed in touch over fb and emails after they moved. He always watched the photos of my son as he grows, and let me know all the wonderful things his own family was doing. He always had the best stories too. I have missed them the past 3 yrs, and now I will really miss him! It was a pleasure knowing you Jackie Hornsby! Thank you for caring about us. God bless you and your family, and may your soul rest peacefully.

My sincere condolences to the Hornsby family. Jackie was a wonderful person a like wine he got better with age! 😉 I can still remember the day I helped him setup his first computer along with his AOL account. Yes, I created his first and last email address. He was addicted to that thing right from the start. I hope he is in a better place now and that the family is coping well. I miss you all! Love Kuba

i had the privilege of meeting Jackie and his family a little over thirty years ago.  He was a really cool guy. i enjoyed my time with the Petland guys and gals, it was a lot of fun. he liked me cuz i was from alabama lol so much so he even encouraged me to take out Jill!  i still laugh about that. lots of good memories!  heartfelt condolences to the family  and roll tide!
