Jerome Joseph Sotkiewicz

It is with great sadness that we share that Jerome (Jerry) Joseph Sotkiewicz, passed away peacefully on the morning of May 10, 2023, at the age of 88 years old.

Jerry is survived by his wife of 66 years, Marjorie (Margie), his children Marc, Gary, Todd, Kent, Bret and Dawn, 10 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren as well as his brother, Bob.

Jerry is remembered for his dedication to his country, having served 4 years in the US Navy, and then 33 years with the Federal Aviation Administration. This was how Jerry lived his life, dedicated to his community, his wife, and his family. He was very active in the town of Speedway, Indiana, where he spent much of his life, He was president of the Speedway Lions Club and Cub Scout troop master of Pack 504. He was always there for every family activity, especially his children’s theater and band performances and sports events.

Born in South Bend, Indiana, he had a passion for photography from a very early age, enjoying his role as photographer for hundreds of weddings, first communions, and local little league team picture days throughout his life. Jerry and Margie photographed many of these occasions as a team.

Nearly twenty years ago, Jerry and Margie retired to Fort Myers, Florida, and were residents there at the time of his death.

On a special day for Jerry as it was his birthdate, Jerry’s life will be celebrated by friends and family on September 16 in Fort Myers, Florida, at St. John the 23rd Catholic Church. Visitation will be at 10:30am, followed by Mass at 11am.
