Jesse O. Burkett, Jr., of North Fort Myers, Florida passed away on September 29, 2020. He was born on September 14, 1934 to Jesse Burkett, Sr. and Ida Lawson Burkett in Macon County, Georgia.
Mr. Burkett moved to Fort Myers as a young boy with his dad and brothers after his mom passed away. He began working at a young age and later joined the military.
He married Irene Morgan Burkett and they had two children, Jorene Burkett Spencer and Jesse Neal Burkett. Mr. Burkett owned and operated many businesses over the years. He loved his long career with the Army and National Guard.
Mr. Burkett enjoyed hunting in the Everglades and Air-boating. After retirement he enjoyed meeting his friends for breakfast and sharing memories.
Mr. Burkett is survived by his wife, Anne McMahan Burkett, son, Jesse Neal Burkett, daughter, Jorene Burkett Spencer (Michael Spencer); as well as 7 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, 3 stepchildren, 5 step grandchildren, and 1 step great granddaughter. He was preceded in death by one grandchild, Jobi Chamberlin.
