John Price Pullen
1971 – 2018
John Pullen born April 7th, 1971, raised in Hammond, Louisiana, and resident of Fort Myers, Florida, left us on May 29th. As big and strong as he was, John could sadly not recover from the serious injuries he sustained in a tragic work accident in Bonita Springs, Florida.
John arrived to Hammond a feisty little guy fresh from Baton Rouge Women’s Hospital. As a young boy John spent many thrilling hours in the care of the Dominican sisters of Holy Ghost School and the Christian Bothers of St. Paul’s. He spent a few more hours (and showed a bit more dedication) on the local basketball courts of Hammond, Ponchatoula and Covington. Eventually, John left the halls of the Camden Military Academy a handsome young graduate in fresh-pressed dress grays.
After graduation, John pursued a vast and varied career path including passionate personal trainer, proud proprietor of his own gym, real estate dabbler and seafaring commercial boat captain.
John was known for his irrepressible smile, his positive outlook and a personal charm which shined like the sun. He had a great affinity for health and fitness and he graciously shared this knowledge and passion to the betterment of his friends, family and personal training clients. In spite of his focus on nutrition, John along with his brother, suffered a weakness for fresh donuts and was known to expound on the virtues of the various qualities offered by purveyors throughout southeast Louisiana.
John leaves behind his two beautiful daughters Blair (Fort Myers) and Natalie (Knoxville), young-at-heart parents Bailey (Folsom) and Pat (Knoxville), less athletic brother Warren (Darien, CT) along with numerous extended family and a multitude of devoted friends.
The family is planning a final send-off for John to be held on Saturday, June 30 from 4:00 - 7:00 pm along the banks of the mighty Tchefuncte on the grounds of the Abita Roasting Company in Madisonville, Louisiana (504 Water Street). We welcome all friends and family who are able to attend and ask that you RSVP Warren at jwarrenpullen@gmail.com. John wouldn’t want us to run out of anything at his memorial celebration.
