JOSEPH W. GOESCHL passed away in Fort Myers FL on December 24, 2020 at the age of 99.
Joe Goeschl was born on April 30, 1921 in Chicago IL to Joseph Goeschl and Emily Hentschel Goeschl. He graduated from Lane Technical Prep High School in 1939. He joined the US Army in 1942 and served in the Panama Canal Zone during WWII. He married Jacquelyn L. Ambrose on March 31, 1946. He never had the means to attend college, but by retirement he had achieved the title of VP of Operations for AG Becker, an investment bank and brokerage company, in New York City.
Along with his generosity, touch was one of the ways Joe showed his love for his family, especially his grandchildren. A quiet and tender touch, with his unusually soft hands, was given often and always with great affection. He was also an awesome and dedicated gardener. His green thumb allowed him to start roses from a simple cutting planted during winter, using an inverted glass bottle as a hothouse. He loved starting beautiful geraniums by seed and starting African violets from a single leaf. He enjoyed traveling with his wife. Even though the family was spread out across the country, they would regularly travel to visit their children and grandchildren for extended periods of time, so they could add to the joys of being loving and supportive grandparents.
Joe Goeschl is survived by his children - Pamela (Phillip) Robb, Gary (Susan) Goeschl and Barbara (Byron Hier) Pill. He’s survived by eight grandchildren who adored him - Erin Adair, Kristin (Kevin) Stegner, Justin (Carrie) Pill, Emilie (Keith) Doleshel, Jonathan Goeschl, Jared Pill, Andrew Robb and Evan Chuderski and seven great grandchildren - Austin, Abby, Ashley, Emma, Beau, Harper and Kayla.
Joe Goeschl is predeceased by his parents - Joseph Goeschl (1949) and Emily Hentschel Goeschl (1988), his wife Jacquelyn A. Goeschl (2003) and his two younger sisters - Esther George (2013) and Mary Jean Hesson Jensen (2019).
Joe Goeschl will be interned at the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell FL along side his wife, Jackie.
