Joy Arleen Thomas, CRNA born in Conway, SC, died at HealthPark Medical Center late Monday, July 15, 2019 after a prolonged illness. She began her career as a Dental Assistant graduating from MUSC before moving to Fort Myers in 1990 where she trained in nursing before going on to graduate from FGCU with her Masters Degrees in Nursing and in Anesthesia. She then worked as a CRNA at HealthPark Medical Center and in private practice. She served in the United States Army Medical Corps until 2008.
She is survived by her mother, Shirley Thomas of Conway, SC, daughter Hallie Jordan Setzer (Gilmore) of Naples, and life partner John Donaldson of Fort Myers. She was predeceased by her son Dylan.
Her life will be celebrated by family and friends at Harvey-Engelhardt Funeral Home 1600 Colonial Boulevard, Fort Myers, Saturday, July 27th from 12 pm to 2 pm. Chaplain Tim Griffis from HealthPark Spiritual Services will officiate.
