March 10, 1942 ~ April 22, 2018 (age 76)

Colonel Lawrence P. Davis (Larry), 76, who resided in Fort Myers, FL, passed away 22 Apr 2018. Col Davis was born in Mandeville, LA. During his life he was an eagle scout, a teacher, a commercial pilot, a certified flight instructor, and a trusted member of the US Air Force. Col Davis notably served our nation in Vietnam and was a Bronze Star Medal recipient. Notably, Col Davis was also inducted into the USAF Weapons Controllers Hall of Fame. He also received the Legion of Merit, Meritorious Service Medals, Air Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross w/palm device ribbon, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, and the National Defense Service Medal, among many other accolades.

Col Davis is survived by his wife Linda Kay Brantner-Davis, his brother Donny, Larry's children Todd (Julie), Paul, and Mark (Natalie), his grandchildren Marlie and Lindsey, and Linda's children, Michael, James, and John, and her grandchildren, Andrew, Tristian, Ethan, Juliette, and Samantha.

Col Davis was an active member of St. Cecilia’s Catholic Church in Fort Myers. He was an avid bicycle enthusiast seen daily by all our neighbors.  He was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather.  His wife, Linda, and Larry’s sons, Todd and Mark were by his side when he passed into the loving arms of the Lord. 

A Memorial Mass will be held on April 30 at St. Cecilia’s Church at 0930. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the church, which played such an important role in Larry and Linda’s life.
