Lewis C. Gordon

Lewis Clinton (Lew) Gordon, age 87, of Fort Myers, FL passed away peacefully on Monday, December 5, 2022. Lewis was born on March 28, 1935 in Mansfield, MA to the late Wallace Gordon and Lillian Sampson Gordon. Lewis lived in Mansfield along with his nine brothers and sisters (Wallace Gordon, Jr., Francis Gordon, Pearl Crichton, Leslie Gordon, Lillian Van Blarcom, Ruth Boutin, Arthur Gordon, James Gordon, and Mary Jane Gordon) and graduated from Mansfield High School. At age 18 he joined the United States Marine Corps; after his military service, Lewis drove a semi-truck until eventually putting down roots in Fort Myers. He married his beloved Sandra (Sandy) Stumpf and they raised three children together. It was important for Lewis to be near his wife and children, so he left the trucking business to become certified in Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning to which he dedicated the rest of his career, eventually owning his own company. After the passing of Sandra in 2004, Lewis later married Candace Stevens Warner in July of 2008 to whom he was happily married for 14 years.
Lewis loved his work, for which he was well respected; he also considered his work his hobby. In addition, he enjoyed bowling and was a successful American Kennel Club dog obedience trainer. Lewis was a serious man although he had a sense of humor and loved a good conversation. Lewis’s greatest love, however, was his family. His family sums up his life in three words: “very family oriented.”
In addition to his parents, Lewis was preceded in death by former wife, Sandra Gordon; daughter, Rebecca Gordon; grandson, Justin Nettles; and all nine brothers and sisters.

He is survived by his wife of 14 years, Candace Gordon; son, Richard (Anne) Gordon of Cape Coral, FL, daughter, Roxann Franklin (James) of Fort Myers, FL and daughter, Dawn Huff (Mark) of Cape Coral, FL; two step-daughters, Jeanine James (William) of Coldwater, MI, and Christine Arnold (Rod) of Granger, IN; eight grandchildren, Christine Hart of Paw Paw, WV, Michelle Gordon-Shannon of Fort Myers, FL, Thomas Wagner of Cape Coral, FL, Adam Franklin of Fort Myers, FL, Desmond Nettles of Fort Myers, FL, Edward Garcia of Riverview, FL, Austin Nettles of Cape Coral, FL, and Logan Franklin of Fort Myers, FL; 11 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, December 10, 2022 at 1:00 PM at Harvey-Engelhardt Funeral & Cremation Services, 1600 Colonial Blvd., Fort Myers, FL 33907. A reception will follow the service at the Funeral Home.
