Margaret M. O’Connor, who was an amazing 104-year-old, passed away on April 30, 2022, in Ft. Myers, Florida. Margaret held the distinctive honor of being the oldest resident of Shell Point Retirement Community. Born on February 22, 1918, Margaret spent her first 60 years living in Pittsburgh, Pa. and met her future husband James B. (Bud) O’Connor in 3rd grade at St. Bede’s School in Point Breeze. Margaret and Bud married in 1941 and had four children: John V. O’Connor and wife Sally of Naples, Florida; Cathleen Stechschulte and husband Don of Pittsburgh, Pa; Marguerite Graf (John, decd.) of Doylestown, Pa. and James Bryan O’Connor and wife Chris of Venice, Florida. Rich in family, Margaret leaves 12 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren, whom she loved dearly and stayed in touch with throughout her life. Remembering their “Mimi” are grandchildren: Michael, Jack (Nicole), and Daniel O’Connor; Caitlin, Conor (Máire) and Ben (Rebecca) Stechschulte; Amy Moorefield, AJ Graf (Jen), Abby Kube (Brad); Sara O’Connor, Kate (Rick) Waltemire and John (Marie) O’Connor. Great-grandchildren: Catherine, Patrick, Dawson, Sean, Maggie, Reagan, and Nolan O’Connor; Emma Stechschulte; Camille and Aidan Moorefield; Jane and Ben Kube; Eleanor, Amelia, and Anna Waltemire; Jack, Finn, and Caden O’Connor. In addition to being a wonderful wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, and great grandmother, Margaret partnered with her husband to create the JBO’Connor Company in Pittsburgh, Pa. Later, in Ft. Myers, Florida, Margaret served for 20 years as a Hope Hospice Volunteer, as well as a Eucharistic Minister at St. Columbkille Catholic Church in Ft. Myers, Florida. To the very end of her life, Margaret remained kind, caring, and grateful. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hope Hospice, 9470 Health Park Circle, Ft. Myers, FL 33908.
