Tribute

Margaret Kennedy White, 91 years old, passed away on Saturday December 19th. She was a resident of Shell Point, Fort Myers FL., previously of Sanibel, Fl. for 30 years.
Born June 23rd, 1929 in Canandaigua, New York to the late Marion and Howard Kennedy. She was preceded in death by her husband Albert W. White, to whom she was married for 66 years prior to his death on January 11, 2018.
Margaret graduated from Canandaigua Academy in 1946. She attended Syracuse University with a degree in Home Economics and Early Childhood Education in 1950. She was a cheerleader and a member of Alpha Phi Sorority.
Margaret and Al were married in August of 1951. They were stationed various places in the U.S. Air Force for four years. Returning to Canandaigua, Al went to work with his family in the automotive business before getting his CPA degree and accreditation. Margie set up a Nursery School with her sister in law, Charlotte White. They ran it for 12 years before Margie moved to Pittsford, NY. Margie and Al were charter members of the Canandaigua Shufflers Club and active members of The First United Methodist Church. Al’s employment resulted in moves to Orchard Park, NY, Nashville, TN and finally to New Orleans before retiring in 1989.
The White’s had a long and happy retirement spending winters on Sanibel, where they were very active volunteers and made many good friends. Margie and Al volunteered with F.I.S.H., Meals on Wheels, Sanibel United Congregational Church, P.E.O., and The Historical Museum. They traveled the world, and spent summers on Canandaigua Lake and at family cottages in Ontario, Canada. Margaret loved being with friends and family, entertaining and helping others.
Margaret is survived by her daughter Deborah W. Rizzo (Robert) of Sanibel FL, grandson Christopher; son Douglas K. White (Elizabeth) of Nebo NC, granddaughter Emily Feldman (Michael), great granddaughter Avery, and grandson Barrett White; daughter Allison Hoffman (Jeffrey) of Loveland Ohio, grandsons Benjamin, Samuel and Peter; beloved and devoted brother Bruce Kennedy (Anne) of Bristol, N.Y.; and brother in law Edwin White (Joanne) of Winchester, Va. She is also survived by numerous loving nieces and nephews.
There will be a celebration of her life later in 2021. She will be laid to rest in Woodlawn Cemetery Canandaigua, N.Y. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent in her name to one of the following charities:
