Marilyn L. McCormick

Marilyn McCormick was born on October 11, 1936 in Louisville, KY to her parents August Weber and Eugenia Blackman-Weber. She passed away on October 28, 2020 in Fort Myers, Florida at the age of 84.
Marilyn is preceded in death by her loving husband of 59 years John Robert (“Bob”) McCormick. She is survived by her children Robert, Diane (Scott) Bassett, John (Meredith); her grandchildren Sean McCormick, Katie, Kelly and Michael Bassett, and Mac McCormick; and many extended family and friends who will miss her dearly.
Marilyn’s lineage traces to William S. Blackman who was born in 1641 in near Jamestown, Virginia. In 1606, Jamestown was the site of the first permanent English settlement in the Americas.
Marilyn was raised in Louisville Kentucky where she met the love of her life Bob in the sixth grade. Marilyn used to say they lived a stone’s throw away from each other. They were married in 1957 and retired to Florida in 1996. They built their retirement home along the golf course and were founding members of the Gulf Harbour Yacht and Country Club.
Marilyn loved working out, golfing, playing tennis and boating and was an active member of the Sanibel-Captiva Sail & Power Squadron. Her cherished friends enjoyed these activities with her.
A mass celebrating Marilyn’s life will be held at Saint Columbkille Catholic Church on Monday November 16, 2020 at 11 am. Marilyn was a devoted member of the church and asked that In lieu of flowers, you make a donation in her memory to St. Columbkille.
