Nanette A Laurion (AKA Fournier AKA Marciano) passed away in the comfort of her home in Sanibel, Florida on September 8, 2021 at the age of 73. She was born in Putnam, Connecticut, the daughter of Ovila J. and Jeanette I. Laurion. Nanette grew up in Putnam and spent summers at Alexander’s Lake in Killingly, CT. She earned a Master's Degree in Education and spent her early career as a teacher. As a woman of many interests, she eventually moved on to other endeavors. Nanette opened a dress shop in Kingston, NY and later trained at Fairleigh Dickinson to become aCertified Nursing home Administrator. She served as an administrator of the Montgomery Nursing Home in New York State before retiring to Sanibel 25 years ago, where she enjoyed life on the water. She was an avid swimmer, sailor, although it has been said she was slower than most as she liked to have company in the boat while others sailed solo, and was a member of the Captiva Yacht Club. She loved her friends and had “girls night out” with her friends on Sanibel for many years. Nanette was also an active and highly valued volunteer at the Sanibel Historical Museum and Village, "The Ark" and Sanibel Music Festival.
Nanette was preceded in death by her parents, as well as her husband, Matthew Marciano.
She will be dearly missed by her son, Marc Fournier and his wife, Onafria (Ona) Fournier of Fairfax, Virginia and granddaughter, Paulina Fournier, as well as sister Ann Laurion and her husband Michael Nalewajk of Danielson.
Memorial services will held on Sunday, January 9th at the Sanibel Community Center on Sanibel Island. She will be interred with her late husband, Matthew at St. Michael and All Angels on Sanibel Island. PLease visit her tribute page at www.harvey-engelhardt.com
Nanette coped with diabetes for many years. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations in her name to the American Diabetes Association, St Michael and All Angels or JDFR.
