Noel Gladstone Powell

Noel G. Powell, 88 of Fort Myers, Florida died on March 21, 2020, peacefully at his home. Noel was born on March 3,1932 in Hopewell, Hanover, Jamaica to his parents Robert and Rachel Powell. Noel worked at US Steel Mill in Fairless Hills, PA for many years. Once he retired, he started his own painting company where he painted in both residential and corporate sectors.
Noel was a huge sports fan. He loved all sports. He was an avid lover of all New York sports teams – NY Giants, NY Yankees, NY Mets and the NY Knicks. He also loved music, eating good food, drinking Jamaican white rum, and playing the lottery.

Noel attended the Faith Lutheran Church located in Fort Myers, FL where he was a proud member. It was there that Pastor John Correa as well as many of the parishioners welcomed Noel with open arms into the Faith Lutheran church family. He loved attending church services weekly.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Rachel Powell.
Noel is survived by five wonderful children. Acquila Powell, Angaleta Whyte (Daniel), Dr. Maureen Nelson (Linford) all of Jamaica, Noel Powell Jr. (Jennifer) of Willingboro, NJ and Augustus Powell Sr. (Tamara) of Burlington, NJ. He also leaves behind three sisters - Wilma-Jean Lawrence and Ivorine Thompson (Byron) of Jamaica and Carmen Greenaway of New York. Noel had a host of grandchildren, nieces and nephews throughout Jamaica, Canada and the United States.

Due to the unfortunate pandemic effecting all parts of the globe, a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
