Robert Gaskill, 81, of Fort Myers, FL passed away on March 20, 2018 at his home. He was born on February 7, 1937 in Pinewald, NJ to the late Wesley and Wilmont Rogers. Robert was a retired Mustang Captain in the United States Marine Corps. He entered the service as a private and steadily rose his rank to Captain while serving in the Vietnam War. Robert was awarded the Navy Commendation Medal with Combat V; the Combat Action Ribbon; and the Vietnam Cross of Galantry with Palm, among other achievements. He had been a resident of Fort Myers since 1974 and was very involved with the Knights of Columbus. He also served as a Fire Commissioner at South Trail Fire Dept. for 14 years. Robert will be dearly missed by his beloved wife of 61 years, Joan Hoffman Gaskill; daughters, Debra Everman and Elizabeth Kirkland (Brian); as well as 5 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. He will be remembered as a devoted family man, a loving father, and an honorable Marine. A memorial mass will be held at St. John XXIII Catholic Church in Fort Myers on Saturday, April 14, 2018 at 10:00am.
