Roderick (Rod) Schneider passed away May 29, 2022 near his home in Ft. Myers, Florida. In 1969, Rod married his love and life-partner, Maureen (McPharlin) Schneider. They settled in Milford, Michigan until 1985 and then Traverse City, Michigan until 2004. In 2004, they built a home and retired to Florida, a place that brought Rod a great deal of peace.
He is survived by his wife, Maureen; his daughter Erica Schneider, his son Mark (Bethany) Schneider; his three grandchildren Sophia, Olivia, and Wyatt Schneider; brother Dennis (Sharon) Schneider; and sister Francis (Edward) Grenn. He was preceded in death by his parents, Theodore and Delia Schneider, and his brother Ted Schneider.
Rod was born July 24, 1937 in Detroit, Michigan. He earned an Engineering Degree and had a successful career in the automotive field. Later in life he was a land developer and entrepreneur.
Rod was known as “Mr. Fixit” to family, friends and neighbors. He particularly loved the challenge of problem solving. Rod loved the outdoors and during different times in his life he was an avid hunter, fisherman and swimmer. Just last year he won the Florida State International Benchrest Shooting Competition.
A Memorial Mass will be held on Friday, June 24, at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of Victory Church, 133 Orchard Drive, Northville, MI.
In lieu of flowers, those who wish to honor the memory of Rod are invited to consider a contribution to the Capuchin Mission, 1820 Mt. Elliott Street, Detroit, Michigan.
