Ruby L Lott

Ruby Lorraine Lott passed away on December 18th. An 89 year resident of Southwest Florida, she was born in 1930 at Punta Rassa where her father, Captain Leon Crumpler ran the Sanibel Island Ferries for many years. Her mother was Jeannie Clyde Crumpler. Ruby attended the one-room Iona School and graduated from Fort Myers High School in 1948, before attending Florida State University.
A life-long and faithful member of First United Methodist Church in downtown Fort Myers, Ruby was active in Altar Guild, taught Sunday School and was a Vacation Bible School volunteer.
Ruby loved her family deeply and showed her love by volunteering as a Brownie and Girl Scout leader, a Cub Scout den mother, PTA member, a school events chaperone, assisted with school fund raising projects and as a room mother, to name a few. She was a passionate, dedicated volunteer for Candlelighters of SW Florida, the local affiliate of the American Childhood Cancer Organization, for over twenty years in memory of her grandson, Jason. Ruby also had a talent for sewing and quilting.
Ruby was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 68 years, C. Franklin Lott, Jr., her son Dean Lott, her grandson Jason Gaylor, brother Leon, and sisters Barbara and Gloria. She is survived by her daughter Donna (Phil) Gaylor, her son David (Teri) Lott, her granddaughters Jami (David) Maxwell, Laren (Patrick) Barker, three great grandsons Parker & Owen Maxwell and Brendan Barker and one great granddaughter Amy Barker, plus many nieces, nephews and cousins.
To celebrate the life of Ruby Lott, the memorial service will be held on Friday, January 10, 2020, at 11:00 AM at Harvey-Engelhardt Funeral and Cremation Services with a reception to follow. All are welcome. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Candlelighters of SW Florida, 9981 S. Healthpark Drive, Fort Myers, FL 33908.
