Stephen L. Shriver, age 69, from Fort Myers, FL formally of Bloomington, IL passed away on March 21, 2018 at his home after a year-long battle with cancer. Stephen was born January 15, 1949 in Bloomington, IL He was the son of Dillon and Marion Shriver of Fort Myers, FL. Steve married Brenda (Burger) Shriver on October 12. 1968. Steve was an Army veteran and worked for many years as a Meat Cutter, most recently at Wynn’s Family Market in Naples, FL. He enjoyed fishing, Sundays in the pool with family and nature walks at Lakes Park and Six Mile Cypress Slough. Steve had a strong faith in God which he clung to during his battle with cancer. Steve is survived by his wife of 49 years, Brenda; sons, Guy and Michael (Heather) both of Fort Myers, FL; grandchildren, Alec Shriver of Fort Myers, FL, Amber Strange(Ryan) of Bloomington, IL and Sydney Shriver, also of Fort Myers; great-grandchildren, Lilly and Leah Strange and a great-grandson to be born in June; sisters, Peggy Purlee(Gene) of Heyworth, IL, Marilyn Stanbrough(Jerry) of Batesville, IN and Susan Donovan of Bloomington, IL. He was preceded in death by his father, Dillon and sister, Kathy Hartrich(Vince). Steve loved his family dearly and was often heard saying how blessed he was with the family he had. He was proud of his boys, grandson and granddaughters. Steve will be greatly missed by all his family and friends. There is no way that we can thank the doctors and nurses at Florida Cancer and Hope Hospice enough.
A private memorial service will be held on March 31st at 11:00am at Harvey-Engelhardt.
