Wilhelm Hermann Rohrs
September 7, 1932 ~ September 14, 2023 (age 91) 91 Years Old
In Memory Of Wilhelm Hermann Rohrs September 7, 1932 - September 14, 2023 Wilhelm Hermann Rohrs entered into eternal rest on September 14, 2023 after a long illness.
Wilhelm was born in Lippstadt, Germany. He emigrated to the United States in 1956 where he pursued his career of Cartography. He lived in New York City for two years, thereafter making his home in Maplewood, New Jersey, until moving to Fort Myers in 2018.
Wilhelm’s charismatic personality immediately drew you to him and he enjoyed challenging conversations as much as he enjoyed making others laugh with his spontaneous and often wry sense of humor. He had many interests and talents, many of which he never flaunted. He could sit at a piano and play classical pieces of music beautifully “by ear”. Given a drawing pad and pencil, he was a skillful sketch artist unbeknownst to almost all of his friends. His greatest passions were photography and writing. Wilhelm enjoyed portrait photography, close-ups of his many dogs and cats, wildlife, and panoramic scapes of New York, as well as detailed close ups of city life. His versatile writing skills included free lance writing for the New Yorker Staats-Zeitung and the publication of four anthologies of poetry in both German and English. His life was full and he was fortunate to have accomplished most of his goals.
Mourning this great loss are his loving and devoted family, his wife of sixty eight years, Heidi, daughter, Angelika Geerlof, grandson, Kristopher, and twin brother, Fritz, as well as nieces, nephews, and countless friends.
He was predeceased by his son in law, Raymond (2009) and his loving granddaughter Brianna (2021).
