Tribute

William (Bill) Anthony Beaumont
William “Bill” Beaumont peacefully went to be with the Lord on April 10, 2021, at age 72, in Tampa, Florida. His battle with serious medical issues in recent years showed his courage in facing life challenges with a smile. Bill, son of Thomas and Madaline Beaumont, grew up on an orange grove in rural San Antonio, Florida as 1 of 8 siblings. After graduating high school in 1966, he enlisted and served 4 years with the US Air Force. Bill made his way to Fort Myers and began an almost 30 year career of delivering health and beauty aids to area grocery stores. While making his rounds, he met his wife, Jo Ann, now of 45 years working in one such store. Together, they raised two boys, Todd and Tony. Also together, they supported the Muscular Dystrophy Association with their time and efforts even volunteering to work at telethon events and a special summer camp for kids with MD for many years. Bill eventually took a job inside one particular island grocery store that he had previously called on for many years. He went on to finish his career in the grocery business at that same island store until about 10 years ago when he retired completely. The simplest pleasures in life brought great joy to Bill. He had a zest for working outside and for Florida sunshine. He enjoyed being retired and the freedom it provided him to stay active in the neighborhood mowing lawns and driving for those that couldn’t. He was a frequent caller to talk radio programs and a regular contributor to the News-Press mailbag section of the newspaper about all things political and otherwise. He loved family reunions and playing music with kinfolk. He loved his granddaughters and their Saturdays together. He was a family man and he was the rock of our family. Bill is lovingly remembered by his wife Jo Ann, their sons, Todd and Tony (Jessica), granddaughters, Emmaline and Genevieve, and by his sisters, Jeanne (Tom) and Madeline (Tom). Bill’s memory will also be forever treasured by his nieces, nephews, extended family and dear friends. Bill’s viewing will be held between 4 pm - 6 pm, on Friday, April 16, at the Harvey Engelhardt Funeral Home, 1600 Colonial Blvd in Fort Myers. A Celebration of Bill’s life will be held at 10 am, on Saturday, April 17, at First Presbyterian Church, 2438 Second Street in Fort Myers. In lieu of flowers please consider making a donation in memory of Bill to the American Cancer Society’s Richard M. Schulze Family Foundation Hope Lodge in Tampa, Florida.
