Shirley Elaine Gormley, 71, died February 14, 2018 after a brief illness. She passed peacefully surrounded by her loving husband and her two daughters.
Shirley was born in Allentown Pennsylvania on October 25, 1946 to Fred and Elaine Altstaetter and shortly thereafter moved to Ventnor New Jersey where she spent most of her formative years. She was married to her lifelong husband Bill, on February 15, 1969 and spent the next 40 years in Linwood raising their family.
Shirley’s true passion was traveling. She spent most of her life working for herself as a travel agent, which she loved. She was fortunate enough to have gotten to travel the world in her lifetime. At her passing, the list of places she had not visited was much shorter that the places she had.
Shirley had fun in everything she did and a great sense of humor. A Life long diehard Eagles football fan she never missed a game or a chance to cheer them on. Visiting new places and having fun was a big part of her life, either on the family boat or exploring the country with her husband in their RV. Retiring to Cape Coral Florida was her dream, which they were able to achieve as well.
Lastly, Shirley’s other true love were her grandchildren, which she adored deeply. She showered them with love and gifts and always tried to be silly and have fun with them. She wanted them to love her as much as she loved them and they did.
Shirley is survived by her husband of 49 years Bill, her daughters Barbara (Everett) Mollo and Jennifer (Ed) Reese, and her 4 grandchildren; Courtney, Andrew, William and Campbell. Additional relatives, extended family and friends will also miss her.
Services will be held March 9, 2018 at Harvey-Engelhardt Funeral Home Colonial Boulevard in Fort Myers. Visitation will begin at 10:30am with a memorial service to beginning at 11am.
