Ferdinand “Fred” E. Hartman Jr. was born on February 2, 1936 in Ft. Monroe, Virginia to the late Ferdinand E. and Dorothy Hartman Sr. He passed away on March 20, 2017 in Ft. Myers, Florida.
Fred is survived by his wife Deanna Hartman; children Brian (Glenda) Hartman of Suffolk, VA, Timothy (Annette) Hartman of Denver, NC, and Eric (Katie) Hartman of Norfolk, VA; grandson Christopher Hartman; step children Kim (David) Hebebrand, of Winter Haven, FL, Dave (David) Brinkley, of Portugal, and Jeff (Shelia) Brinkley of Norfolk, VA. The grandchildren are Dean Hebebrand (Winter Haven, FL), Matt Brinkley (Boise, ID),  Alex Brinkley (Dana Point, CA) and Simone Brinkley (Norfolk, VA).   Fred was preceded in death by his wife of 39 years Nancy West Hartman.
Fred enjoyed spending time with his three sons, fishing, shooting, weekend trips to Yorktown, VA and vacations to the Blue Ridge Mountains. He spent his entire career working for NCR in Norfolk, VA and lived in Virginia Beach. After Nancy passed in 1996, he met Deanna and married in 2001, they relocated to Fort Myers FL where he lived the rest of his life. Fred was a quiet, gentle man with a good heart and brought a light-hearted humor to his interactions with others. In the Assisted Living and PACE facility he spent his later years, he was known as “Benjamin Franklin” due to his long white hair and reading glasses. He was loved by many and will be greatly missed.
A private graveside service will be held at Colonial Grove Memorial Cemetery in Virginia Beach, Virginia on April 8th at 10 AM.
