James Richard (“Skip”) Shaffer, Jr., 75, of Fort Myers, Florida, passed away on November 23, 2017, in his home, surrounded by family, following a courageous battle with cancer.
Skip was born in Butler, Pennsylvania to James and Sara Shaffer on October 10, 1942. He attended Butler High School and went on to graduate from Allegheny College with a B.A. in History, where he was a member of the ROTC and the varsity swim team. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War, serving in the United States Air Force, earning the rank of captain.
Skip worked in sales for General Electric, Nordic Controls and Saftronics. He enjoyed golfing, cooking, reading and spending time with family, and friends. He was an honorable, loving, kind and generous man, who touched all who knew him. He will be dearly missed by all.
Skip is survived by his loving wife, Lori; children, Kimberly and Daniel; mother, Sara; brothers, Peter and William; son-in-law, Michael Antonelli; grandchildren, William and Katherine; and many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. He is predeceased by his first wife, Judy, and father, James. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Disabled American Veterans.
